In 1946 Eduard Payer founded an enterprise with the aim of developing the world‘s best gentleman’s shaver. The pursuit of excellence was reflected in his initial choice of location for the firm – namely the inspirational wine region of Schloss Sonnegg in St Bartholomä, near Graz, Austria.

The Technology and Development Centre is now situated here, at the heart of the PAYER Group. Additional centres have been established in Ajka, Hungary and in Suzhou, near Shanghai, China.

Continuous and innovative product development, coupled with product design and quality, saw PAYER products sold world-wide by the 1960‘s. By the beginning of the 1990‘s sales had reached 500,000 and today, this figure has risen to a staggering 5 million electrical personal care products being sold annually. This brings PAYER ever closer to its next goal, to become one of the world's largest manufacturers of electrical personal care products.

Payer Shavers in New Zealand have been the exclusive agents for Payer since 1955.
